Reporting to the CFO Global Markets MENA, managed the treasury finance, treasury market risk and treasury credit risk control functions for HSBC Bank Middle East, as a regional responsibility covering UAE, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Pakistan, Jordan, Lebanon, Algeria and Egypt.
- Finance responsibility covered product control including accounting, valuations, hedge accounting, Basel 2 risk weighted assets computations and analysis, IFRS compliant financial reporting, profit and loss analysis and extensive management reporting, of Global Markets line of business, encompassing a range of product lines including money market, foreign exchange, fixed income securities, and complex derivatives including various types of currency options, interest rate swaps and options, credit default swaps, etc., and assisted in the strategic annual plan document.
- Market risk controls covered the monitoring of activities and results against mandated limits for stop loss, currency exposure, PVBP, VaR, etc., by currency, dealing positions, profit centres and overall.

Reporting to the GM Corporate Finance, developed the policy, systems and procedures for proper management and control of the foreign exchange component of the company’s business and treasury operations. This included risk measurements such as event risk, stress tests and value-at-risk calculations.
